Pittsburgh Watercolor Society (PWS) presents small works…BIG IDEAS,
a new opportunity for all Pittsburgh Watercolor Society members to showcase new works in watercolor and other water media. This non-juried, non-themed exhibit gives our artist members the opportunity to express themselves freely.
The 2022 exhibit will be in-person at the Wilkins School Community Center (WSCC), 7604 Charleston Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15218 and online via our website.
ELIGIBILITY: This exhibit is open to PWS Juried Members working primarily with water-based media on a paper surface (YUPO and Tyvek are permitted) and unvarnished. No canvas. Mediums include: watercolor, acrylic, casein, gouache, egg tempera and water-based inks. No oils, oil pastels, pastels, digital images, or any form of print or reproductions. No class work. No more than 10% collage.
Each PWS member may exhibit one work. Works cannot be larger than 14x14” matted and framed. Work must be completed within the past 2 years and must not have been exhibited in any previous PWS show. Entry Deadline: February 24, 11:59 PM
Drop-off at Wilkins School Community Center: Sunday, March 6, 2 - 6 PM
Artists Reception: April 2, 5:30 - 8 PM
(May change due to COVID-19 restrictions.)
Pick-up: Saturday, April 30, 10 AM - 2 PM
Digital Files: Images must be professional quality, showing only the painted image, and accurate for promotional reproduction.
File format must be saved as .jpg.
File Name: Save name and title as FirstName_LastName_ArtworkTitle.jpg (example: Sue_Lin_YellowSunflowers.jpg).
The file name does not have to contain the full title. Do not use special characters such as / ? < > \ : * | ".
File Resolution: 300 DPI
File Dimensions:1200 to 1500 pixels height OR width, on the longest dimension.
Maximum File Size: 2 MB

AWARDS: A People’s Choice winner will be announced April 30 at the close of the exhibit.
SALES: All Works must be for sale. Sales will go through PWS which will take a commission of 20%. Wilkins Center does not take a percentage but asks that you make a donation of 10% of the sale price to them. The artist will be responsible for delivery of the work to the purchaser.
LIABILITY: Artist/Exhibitor shall be solely and exclusively responsible to insure their work and property properly and adequately. PWS and/or the North Hills Art Center cannot be liable for any damage of artwork.
Artist/Exhibitor grants permission for PWS to reproduce his/her name, information describing his/her work, representations of his/her work and any other information he/she has provided for the purpose of online display, promotion and publicity, either now or in the future.
